Admissions Policy
For Bachelor’s programs: High School Diploma / Certification of Secondary School completion or equivalent from accredited HS or officially recognized Secondary School.
For Master’s programs: Bachelor’s degree from accredited university with minimum GPA of 2.5 or equivalent. (Official transcript required.)
For Graduate Certificate Programs, EMBA and MSc in Ed Leadership, consult Department of Admissions for additional requirements.

Refund Policy
The Refund Policy of the University of Atlanta includes the following provisions:
All students are guaranteed that tuition at the time of registration will not increase as long as they are actively and continuously enrolled in a program.
The University further guarantees that students who wish to withdraw will have all money due refunded within 30 days. A student may request refund in any manner, but a written request is preferred.
Tuition refunds will be based on the date of cancellation and will be applied per course as follows:
• If a student cancels within 5 calendar days after midnight of the day the student signs the Enrollment Agreement (Full Refund Period), the student will receive a FULL refund with NO further obligation.
• If a student cancels after the Full Refund Period but before the school receives the first completed lesson, the student will be refunded all money paid, less an administrative fee of 20% not to exceed $200 for the degree program.
• If a student cancels after completing at least one lesson assignment but less than 50 percent of course assignments, the University will retain a percentage of refundable tuition which will not exceed the following: Up to and including 10 percent of the course, 10 percent of the refundable tuition (tuition charges remaining after subtracting the non-refundable fee already retained).
o a. Between 10 percent and 25 percent of the course, 25 percent of the refundable tuition.
o b. Between 25 percent and 50 percent of the course, 50 percent of the refundable tuition.
o c. After the student completes more than half the course, the institution shall be entitled to retain the entire total course tuition.
The amount of the course completed shall be the ratio of completed lesson assignments received by the institution to the total lesson assignments required to complete the course.
A student will receive a full refund for any courses they do not start.
Lesson Submissions
Each course (except for Research Project, Field Work and Thesis courses) requires the following submissions for evaluation and grading: three article reviews (15%), three periodic exams (40%), one or two major projects (20%), active course participation and text chapter summaries/syntheses (5%) and a proctored comprehensive final examination (20%). Assignments are patently submitted via the University’s Learn Center (Learning Platform) to which all enrolled students have access.
Course Completions Time and Extensions
All courses are based on an eight-week schedule, with a four-week extension offered (12 weeks). Further extensions are granted, if and as circumstances warrant.
Grading Policy
All course submissions are in narrative/essay format (or require narrative sections) and are graded by highly qualified faculty (field specialists. Assignments are returned with ample commentary - feedback and a score within approximately 3-5 days. Course grades are based on a weighted calculated of all assignments and exams (as noted above). For undergraduate courses, the following grades are used: A+, A, A-, B+, B-, C+, C, C-, D+, D, F -- and special grades of P, I or W.
For graduate courses, the following grades are used: A+, A, A-, B+, B,
B-, C+, C, F -- and special grades of P, I or W.
Satisfactory Progress: To remain in good standing, undergraduate students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 (C) and graduate students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (B). At the graduate level, any grade below a C is converted to an F, and no student may graduate with more than two grades below B-, regardless of GPA.
Graduation Honors are offered to undergraduate students who complete no less than 60 hours at the University of Atlanta and to graduate students who complete no less than 30 hours at the University of Atlanta. Students who meet the minimum number of credits completed at the University of Atlanta, who have no repeated courses, who have not been accused of any disciplinary action, will be awarded graduation honors in accordance with the following scale: 3.5-3.69 = Cum Laude; 3.7-3.89 = Magna Cum Laude; 3.9-4.0 = Summa Cum Laude. (Graduation Honors are indicated both on the official transcript and on the degree/diploma.)
Transfer Policy
As part of the application process, a student may present a formal petition for transfer
credit. Each petition will be evaluated based on fixed criteria.
UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS
In order to be considered for transfer credit, the undergraduate applicant must:
1.) Provide official transcript records (part of the application process).
2.) Indicate the course or courses for which transfer credit is sought.
3.) Establish (a) that the course or courses for which the petition has been filed has/have been completed at an accredited college or university; (b) that the
content and level of the course or courses formerly completed are fundamentally equivalent to the course or courses offered at the University of Atlanta.
NOTE: No course in which a grade of less than C was earned is eligible for transfer evaluation.
4.) Subsequent to an academic review of the petition, the Department of Admissions will provide a detailed written summary of courses for which transfer credit has been granted, if any.
GRADUATE STUDENTS
