Refund/Drop Policy
Based on percentage of semester completed: Less than 20% completed 100% Tuition/Fees; 20%-29% completed 50% Tuition/Fees; 30%-40% completed 25% Tuition/Fees.
Explanation of Course Numbering System
100-299 Lower-Division college courses; 300-449 Upper-Division college courses; 450 and above Graduate level courses.
Lesson Submissions
Assignments may be submitted via Blackboard, email, fax or mail (dependent on instructor).
Course Completion Time And Extensions
Fall and Spring: 16-week and 8-week semesters; Summer: 10-week and 5-week semesters.
Grading Policy
The NMSU system of grading is expressed in letters, which carry grade points used in calculating the cumulative grade-point average on a 4.000 scale.
Transfer Policy
After the Office of Admissions has admitted a student to NMSU, official transcripts will be forwarded to the Registrar’s Office. The evaluators will review each course for an equivalent NMSU course. After the evaluation is complete, credit will be recorded on the student's academic record. A Transfer Credit Evaluation Form detailing the course and their equivalency will be mailed to the student.

Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC)
Special Information
New Mexico State University is regionally and nationally accredited, a member of Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges and is a participant in GoArmyEd. NMSU has military-friendly tuition and fee policies. NMSU offers an Active Duty Military Waiver assuring that service members at regional military installations and dependents pay in-state tuition. NMSU observes the Veterans' In-State Tuition Act that offers in-state tuition to veterans receiving VA educational benefits.
The NMSU Office of Veterans Programs certifying official is responsible for gathering documents related to receiving Veteran Affairs educational benefits and support. NMSU's system-wide All Things Military and Wounded Warrior initiatives support events of interest to military-related students and their families.
Athletic and community events are held each year in honor of veterans and active military members. Las Cruces also sponsors an annual trip to Washington, D.C. for veterans.
