Course Description: This course is designed to increase consumer skills and knowledge for everyday encounters with producers and sellers of goods and services and when working with people in social work, counseling, and educational settings. Students who complete the course will have an enhanced knowledge of consumer rights, responsibilities, and issues in areas ranging from food, fraud, insurance and investments, and banking as well as health care, credit and housing.

Thus it considers the long-range problems of retailers.
