Program Overview

New Mexico State University technology-based graduate degree programs are delivered using WebCT, Centra, ITV (Interactive Television), and other learning technologies. Some programs require face-to-face sessions on an NMSU campus, but exceptions or alternatives can be arranged. Admission to the Graduate School and to the program department are required.

Doctor of Education in Educational Administration (Educational Leadership) classes are offered via WebCT and ITV. The goal of the Educational Leadership Doctoral Program (ELDP) is to prepare administrators to be leaders in the movement to change educational systems so that they become equitable and responsive to all learners in our multicultural and diverse society. The program is suitable for practicing administrators in K-12 institutions, community colleges and universities and requires 63 credit hours. Some face-to face weekend meetings during the semester or during summer sessions are required. New cohorts begin every two years.

Doctor of Philosophy in Curriculum and Instruction classes are offered via WebCT. Students develop a sound theoretical background in Curriculum and Instruction and apply theoretical perspectives to the design, implementation, and evaluation of learning environments. Students are encouraged to use innovative pedagogical and leadership approaches to solve educational problems in a variety of educational settings. Students are also expected to develop professional leadership in the field through publication, research, service, grant writing, and participation in professional organizations. Three two week face-to face sessions during summer sessions are required.
