Program Overview


New Mexico State University technology-based graduate degree programs are delivered using WebCT, Centra, ITV (Interactive Television), and other learning technologies. Some programs require face-to-face sessions on an NMSU campus, but exceptions or alternatives can be arranged. Admission to the Graduate School is required and departmental applications are required for some programs.

Master of Arts in Agricultural and Extension Education Classes via WebCT and Centra. Program is primarily intended for educators in public secondary schools, community colleges, Cooperative Extension Services, State Departments of Agriculture, other government agencies, in industry or the military. Other professionals can utilize the program for professional development and advancement.

Master of Arts in Education (Emphasis in Learning Technologies) Classes via WebCT. Program serves educators to complete a MA degree focusing on of technology within culturally-responsive curricula. Students may focus on K-12 to adult learning environments and on specific content applications or endorsement to their teaching credential as an Information Tech Coordinator. Two face-to face weekend meetings each semester and two-week face-to-face during summer sessions.

Master of Arts in Sociology Completely online through WebCT. MA in Sociology provides training in research design and interpretation, managing diversity, organizational analysis and program evaluation, and the assessment and management of social change.

Master of Arts in Teaching Program of study for career teachers. Program may be of interest to dependants of military personnel or military personnel who wish to pursue teaching careers. 17-18 credits chosen from an area of teaching content specialization and 14-15 credits in professional education in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction.

Master of Criminal Justice Classes are offered via WebCT. Students graduating from the program will be prepared for administrative and policy-making positions in law enforcement, court, and correctional agencies or doctoral studies in criminal justice or related social sciences.

Master of Science in Industrial Engineering Classes via video and web-based instruction up to 100%. Program provides students with the skills, techniques, and tools to succeed in a wide range of organizational settings and is appropriate for individuals with scientific or engineering undergraduate degrees who seek to develop their knowledge and skills in industrial engineering and operations research.

Master of Science in Nursing The MSN provides students with the knowledge and experience to assume leadership positions in health care delivery and fundamental requirements to teach in basic nursing programs, engage in nursing practice as clinical specialists, and secure middle and top-level admin. positions in health care. Students who enroll in any one of our four specialties are required to come to campus one weekend at the beginning of each semester and complete the rest of the semester online via the internet.
