Program Overview

New Mexico State University technology-based undergraduate degree completion programs are delivered using WebCT, Centra, ITV (Interactive Television), and other learning technologies. Some programs require face-to-face sessions on an NMSU campus, but exceptions or alternatives can be arranged. Technology-based undergraduate degree completion programs are for the last two years of college.

Bachelor of Business Administration(General Business) classes via WebCT. A broad range of course options in business rather than a narrow focus on a single discipline. Graduates may find careers in large and small businesses, in government agencies, and in the not-for-profit sector.

Bachelor of Criminal Justice (BCJ) classes via WebCT. Program students who have attained Sophomore status, completed all lower division BCJ requirements. Only the upper division course sequence is available in the online curriculum. Minors: in Forensic Science and Security Technology and Intelligence Studies are not available online. Graduates may pursue careers in administrative and policy-making positions in law enforcement, court, and correctional agencies or pursue doctoral studies in criminal justice or related social sciences.

Bachelor of Science in Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management. Student Access Via Online Resources (SAVOR) classes via WebCT. Students who receive their AA degree in Business or related fields can continue their education and receive a BS degree in Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management. Graduates are prepared for management positions in the rapidly growing tourism and hospitality industry. Food lab courses HRTM 363 may require face-to-face meetings at the NMSU main campus to utilize the HRTM commercial kitchen and dining room facility.

Bachelor of Human and Community Services classes via WebCT and Centra. For those already working at some level in public health, social services, or other human and community service fields who want a BS degree for self-improvement, promotion, as a bridge to graduate-level education, or to broaden their career opportunities into allied disciplines. Students must complete two minors; one in Community Health, Environmental and Occupational Health, or US-Mexico Border Health and a second in Counseling and Ed Psychology, Education (non-teacher training), Family and Consumer Sciences, or Gerontology.

Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) classes via WebCT and Centra. Topics and concepts include those required to design, implement, and manage a variety of computer-based information systems. Study includes computer hardware, application and operating systems software, system integration, database design and management, networking, and network security. Graduates will be competitive for positions such as Information Technologist, Project Manager, Systems or Network Administrator, Computer Support Specialist, and Database Administrator. This program is an attractive path to the baccalaureate degree for associate degree graduates of computer and other technology-related programs, but an associate degree is not required.

Bachelor of Arts in Sociology classes via WebCT. Study of social relationships helps us understand the forces that shape our interactions and influence our attitudes and behaviors. These forces range from crime to religion, public policy to social protest, population growth to economic development, and race, gender and class divisions to shared cultural beliefs. The degree is an excellent liberal arts degree
